Did any of you know how stressful wedding planning could be?

Question by divaat29: Did any of you know how stressful wedding planning could be?
I had no idea wedding planning could be so stressful!!! I have gotten into arguements with my Mom, fiance` and Matron of Honor. Now to top it off my Bridesmaid is not happy with the dress but to me via email she is all fine and dandy about it all. I’m just shocked at all the attitudes and opinions. I thought that since this was a joyous occasion that things wouldn’t be so dang stressful. Its just plain crazy!

It is very stressful. You will have people on here brag about how their wedding wasn’t stressful….but they are either lying…or they had a very small simple inexpensive wedding.

The bigger the wedding, the more stress you will have, the more detail and the more expenses involved…as well as other people’s opinions.

Don’t worry, as soon as you get close to the wedding, you will not regret it. You will realize that this beautiful wedding was worth the stress. Just keep going on, and be assertive. Stand up for yourself and tell others that this is your day and things will go your way!

I might get a lot of thumbs down for this, but I feel personally that you are the one getting married, so only you and the groom should be in charge of this wedding, nobody else.

Everything will be okay, just take time away for yourself away from wedding planning.

I will also add: that you may lose sleep occasionally over the stress as well. I know I have. You might have to rely on Benadryl, sleeping pills, or Ny-Quil to get you to calm down once in a while. Read a good book. Have your fiance give you a massage. All these things and more can help you relax. Hope this helps!

EDIT: I am in my late 20′s and planned my own wedding, so age has nothing to do with stress level. It is really all about how big the wedding is, and how complicated and detailed everything is…and how involved the family/friends try to make themselves…etc. It’s not necessarily all about how stressed out the bride makes herself.

what is a nice venue in chicago IL for civil wedding ceremonies other the the chicago cultural center?

Question by Jazmin: what is a nice venue in chicago IL for civil wedding ceremonies other the the chicago cultural center?
My fiance is in A school in Great Lakes IL and we are getting married on June 12th of this year and it will simply be a civil ceremony. But I dont want to go to a regular court house to do it. I have heard to go to the Cultural Center there but it is booked for the day so is there any other nice venue that does civil weddings in the Chicago area?

There are hundreds of banquet rooms, restaurants & gardens in CHicago where you could hold the ceremony
For Example

Just arrange for a Justice of the Peace, Judge or Non-denominational minister to perform the ceremony. Some of these places will do that for you, or look here.

You may do better to have the ceremony Friday night. More likely the place you want won’t be booked and you might pay less too. Saturdays in June are prime wedding time.

Unless you own a wedding venue (like a ballroom) I don’t see why you need to buy chairs and tables – many venues already have these, and they can be rented otherwise.

What you should be doing is networking with wedding vendors in your area – venues, photographers, DJs and musicians, florists, bridal boutiques, caterers, suppliers of rented items (chairs, tables, tents, etc), and even nondenominational and secular ministers/officiants (since not all couples have a church they want to get married at). You might want to read a lot of books and magazines about wedding planning, because it involves a LOT more than just choosing decorations.

How involved is your fiance in the wedding planning?

Question by Jess ♥Happy to Be Mrs. G♥: How involved is your fiance in the wedding planning?
I was thinking about this because my hubby’s twin brother is getting married and he is super involved in the planning. He even looks at bridal magazines and pictures of dresses with my future SIL.

I thought this was interesting because my hubby was very laid back about our wedding planning. He was more of a “whatever you want, honey” type of guy. : )

It’s amazing how different they are in regards to this! They’re identical by the way.

So how involved would you say your fiance is in the wedding planning?
Just curious. : )

My fiance doesn’t care about ANYTHING. It’s actually pretty annoying. I want his opinion and he says he just doesn’t have one. How do you NOT have an opinion!? Haha. You’re SIL is lucky to have a guy with that quality! It is pretty odd, you hardly ever hear about a groom who’s super involved in the planning. =]

What Do You Think Of Online Wedding Ceremonies?

Question by cece1012003: What Do You Think Of Online Wedding Ceremonies?
I was reading a question about being physically in the presence of your groom/bride in order to get married. I thought it would be interesting to know what people think about getting married online. They have plenty of things online nowadays, like school and job interviews. To be honest, I really don’t approve of such a thing, but it tickled my curiosity of others’ opinions.

What is your best advice for other brides planning a wedding?

Question by Michele @ Bridal University: What is your best advice for other brides planning a wedding?
Whether you are in the midst of wedding planning now, or were happily wedded years ago, what tips, ideas or advice can you share with other brides? What do you wish you had done differently, or what are you glad you did? What unique, personal touches did you include in your own wedding? Do you have any cool ideas on: party favors, wedding party gifts, bridesmaids attire, invitations/programs, child attendants, showers/bachelor(ette) parties, the ceremony/vows/etc, wedding cake, photography/videography, the honeymoon? (These are just ‘prompts’ to spark your memory – you don’t have to answer them all!!) I am finishing my wedding planner/workbook and would like to include tips from real-life brides. Your input and ideas would be a huge help!!

bride walking up the aisle
for walking back down the aisle after the I do’s

Best answer:

Answer by geri
I heard Somewhere over the rainbow/What a wonderful world – Israel Kamakawiwo’ole on Meet Joe Black and Finding Forrester and ever since I’ve wanted to walk down the aisle to it one day and I like Lauren Wood – Fallen from Pretty women but I don’t think it is a walk down the aisle kind of song, maybe a wedding dance.

Every Bridal magazine has a planning guide inside. And every Bride usually goes out and buys a magazine less than 24 hours after the proposal. Or if you want something more elegant, check your local Bridal Shop.
